Well 3 weeks ago I was asked by my former employer to start work again! So I am now employed and living away from my parents (again). Things are starting to pick up. Sorry to everyone who was concerned for my well being, I tend to reveal too much of my personal life on this website. I will try to make this site more professional from now on. As for updating it... well, time will only tell. I still don't know what got me motivated those many years ago to do this site at all, to be quite honest! But if I find that spark of energy again, I'll be sure to do something again. Maybe it's competition? If someone out there has a SF3 sprite site like mine that does things better, please let me know. I know, for example, that the DOT GRAPHICS GALLERY sites for the King of Fighters XII and XIII games have amazing ways of displaying sprites, I might have to try to shoot for something like that. Also, if anyone knows any cool solutions for displaying animations besides Flash, send me an email.

This site above all is supposed to be a display of the animation that was achieved almost 15 years ago by traditional pixel art, and it will continue to be a testament as the years roll on. Sure, Street Fighter IV and its ilk are nice, and I love the freedom that comes with creating a 3D model of something, but the human hand will always add a special touch to animation that computers can't mimick for a long time to come.

I just recently played Super Street Fighter IV for the first time. Sure, it's nice. I like it. But do I like it more than 3rd Strike? Well you can guess the answer. I don't want to sound stuck up or snobbish (because I am), so I'll stop my rant short. So let me ask you this question: where is the wind that randomly blows past Makoto's clothing? Small details like this will always bring me back to this wonderful gem of a game.

Oh by now I've gone and deleted my youtube account... sorry if anyone found those interesting. I just want to start fresh, you know? I am a consistent breaker of promises, so I will try to avoid making any from now on. Job situation is still bad, haven't been working... starting to feel like life is just not worth it anymore. The frustration of being rejected from interview after interview is getting to me. I am also too stubborn to go back to school, so it's a catch22 situation. Pray for me, Internet... pray that I may get well soon. The only thing that's keeping me from ending it is the release of some potentially awesome games this year, namely Super Street Fighter IV! Oh boy that's so sad that a video game is keeping me alive at this point. So, so sad...

Hey internet, how ya goin? Well my personal life is starting to take a turn for the better, so I can finally get back to doing what I said I would do years ago, updating this site. I plan to clean things up and introduce some web 2.0 related features over time. I want to improve the CSS as well, and make it look more professional. And the first step is this silly white text on a black background, that hurts the eyes! I did add a super background to the extras section:

Also I had some fun with Adobe After Effects:

So thanks to all the emailed with concerns, I was just being a tad over-dramatic.

5 Years. 5 long years. A lot has happened since then. CPS3 emulation was achieved, and even though I promised to add some other games to the site all I did was do a few backgrounds from the New Generation and 2nd Impact versions of Street Fighter III. Warzard proved to be too hard to get decent sprites from in the way I wanted them. To be more specific, I wanted to get properly colour-indexed rips out of it. I know I haven't really updated this site in two years now, but I still think about it from time to time. Nobody emails me about it anymore, and I just have no more ambition to keep on posting new animations. I realize there are still lots of empty spaces to fill, but I just don't think it will happen. The sad thing is nothing much has changed since I first started this site. Back when I started, I had no job and was living at home with my parents. I was 24. Now I am 29 and everything has come full circle and here I am again, out of a job and living with my parents! So so sad. You'd think I would have time now to finally complete the site, but the fact that I have no job and no real direction in my life is a huge burden on my soul.

Anyway, just wanted to sort of keep the dozen or so of you who still come here updated. Yes, I have seen and played Street Fighter IV, but I'm just not interested in it. The art of designing and animating sprites I just respect a lot more than 3D modeling. And I hope one day we'll have something that melds the two artforms into one. We have seen glimpses of it in toonshading, but I don't think we're quite there yet. And don't even get me started on SSF2HDR, the art in that game is just so painful to see I won't even download it. Yes I am a snob!

So thanks everyone for still coming here and seeing my old stuff. If anyone of you needs a computer engineer/programmer, I'm your guy! I'd love to have a zest and passion for life again, but being rejected by all these jobs over and over again just sinks me deeper and deeper into depression.

It's finally happened, folks: CPSIII has been decrypted and emulated! That's right, no more fiddling around with DC emulators, no more downloading 500MB isos, no more crazy resiziing routines and out-of-the-way methods for ripping sprites. Thanks to Andreas Naive, Haze, ElSemi, Phil, Dox, and everyone else involved for bringing this dream to us, the fans! I don't know a great deal about how emulators are programmed, but these guys have done a fantastic job. I was eagerly refreshing Haze's and ElSemi's sites every day to see what progress was being made, and I was surprised how fast they got everything running! The emulator has just been unleashed to the public a mere few hours ago, and I've been eating it up! Unfortunately I have to get prepared for a 2-week vacation to Europe, and won't have time to rip any sprites from the 6 cpsIII games that are out there. Even if someone else will have done it thoroughly by the time I get back, I will still dig deep into the games and finally provide everyone with the missing sprites that I've been promising all those years... we're talking 2nd Impact and New Generation exclusive sprites here!

So that's pretty much it then... it's been nearly 3 years since I unleashed this site on the internet and I've enjoyed getting to know the fans out there and the Mugen community. It doesn't mean the site will end now, but I just like to reflect on the times gone by. Now nobody will have problems ripping sprites, because ElSemi will certainly provide a 'shots factory' of sorts or something similar like in his Nebula emulator eventually. At the time of this posting the emulator doesn't emulate everything yet, but I think it will in a very short time. I am pretty excited about playing Warzard for the first time, and I might even finally try those JoJo games I've been avoiding for so long. And who knows... I might make this a CPS3-games site. Instead of just 3rd Strike, I will have seperate sections on all the 6 games. That is just an idea that's flying around in my head now, but I felt it was unfair to give one game all the love and leave the other ones out! So if people are interested I'll definitely consider expanding the site into something like that.

Well what do you know, I finally got off my ass and started working on the site again! All character pages have been updated with new animations, plus old animations have been improved in some cases, PLUS: colour palette swapping! Simply click the colours on the right-hand side of the screen to swap a palette for the character. For Gill's page especially I put some extra work in, making animations for both of his sides and even adding Urien palettes just for some fun. So enjoy the new additions, and as always, comments and suggestions are welcome. I'm not much of a layout artist, so I don't know how best to display stuff. Have fun, and be sure to wait for some of the animations/colour swaps because they take some time to load for bigger animations. Also be sure to use FireFox now to view the animations, because they will run really slow in Internet Explorer (even the new version). I can get frames to 2/100ths of a second with this browser: I like! Is nice!

I'd like to thank the following people for encouraging me to continue with the site, in no particular order:

Wow what happened to my stupid DECISION 2 months ago? NOTHING!! But since the site is still here, and at a new domain, www.zweifuss.com, I guess it is here to stay. Hopefully my new host can handle the bandwidth of all the sprite packs. Stay tuned for further updates...

Hi everyone. Do people still come here? I don't know. It's been a boring summer and I've been thinking about this site often. I want to update again... but is it enough to want? I dont know... maybe not. I've been out of the swing of things, so it might take me a bit to figure out how to rip again. Maybe I should check my tutorial? HA!

The truth is, this site is my baby. But even babies need to grow up... and this site hasn't. It's still a child. Some have offered to mirror it so it won't be lost forever - question is, why mirror such an amateurish site? I don't understand you people, seriously. The reason I'm making this update is that I have recently been talking to some people that are encouraging me to do something again. I also received a cool Street Fighter - Eternal Challenge art/fan book in the mail today which got me thinking about this site again. The big problem with updating is that I don't answer to anyone. I don't have a boss breathing down my neck to finish things on time. There are no deadlines. And I work so much better with hard set deadlines. So it's a bit of a dilemma for me. I just hope that everyone still understands that this is a HOBBY, and not an OBLIGATION to the MUGEN community. It's a labour of love, and I know that sounds cheesy, but that's how it is, there is no better way to explain it.

Street Fighter III means a lot to me. In fact I play it all the time still on my Dreamcast. The flawless animation, the amazing sprites, the deep fighting engine, the unique cast of characters... it's hard to play this game and not appreciate these things about it. So this site will never be dead to me... it will always be a testament to how a simple game can inspire me to be creative with my time. I still have so many plans for this site.

With that being said, it is with a heavy heart that I will have to make a decision on the direction of this site:

Will it stay AND be updated REGULARLY?

OR

will it go away FOREVER?

I hate going to sites that never update, it's a pet peeve of mine. But another hate of mine is hypocrits... and I don't want to become one. It's hard letting things go but sometimes we all have to move on. I will do some soul searching and decide whether to continue or not. Please be respectful in this difficult time and don't harass me with emails or anything, because it's not helping. Point of this: I either want to go all the way or not at all. 100% or 0%. That's the bottom line. Come back next week for my FINAL DECISION.

I was thinking up of cleaning up my 'gifcreator' C program and putting it on the site. Anyone out there interested? I did get some neat results out of it, but was never satisfied with what I got, but maybe someone out there might. Email me if you are interested.

For those that are interested, I've been drawing and colouring again, you can check out what I've done at zweifuss.deviantart.com. Hope to see some of you there!

Wow. It's been 1 year since Chankast came out and I was sucked into the world of Third Strike. What can I say? I know the site has been dormant the past couple of months with empty promises, but I don't really care anymore. I think I used to, but not anymore. There have been no emails telling me to hurry up or anything, which I appreciate, but I just haven't been interested in sprites lately. Other interests have taken up my time. But who knows, maybe one day I will once again be interested in updating. It doesn't mean I'm giving up entirely, because I could never do that. It's just that hobbies like this are an on-again-off-again thing for me. My problem is also that I have really high ambitions that I could never possibly meet.

Anyway, long story short, I am sleeping and haven't woken up yet.

The last month I haven't been doing any Street Fighter related things at all, but just taking a break. Hopefully I will get out of my rut soon, but I've been thinking a lot about life, and how much I've been wasting my time. It kind of gets me down a bit. But hopefully I'll get back in the mood again to revamp this site. It's almost been a year now since Chankast emulation. Hopefully I'll have something by then to celebrate the 1 year anniversary.

Thursday, April 7 2005, 11:55 PM
I've semi-completed the in-game effects. I didn't know what to do with the canvas size of the images, so I just left them huge, ie. the size I captured them at. I doesn't really effect the size of the zip file, so it doesn't really matter. Check out theSPRITES section to discover that I've re-included the link to those. Next up I will do the menus and interfaces.

I'd also like to appologize to all those people that visit this site to see animations and (potential) artwork for this game. Over the last few months or so I've become more interested in the internal workings of the game than what appears as you play it. So the stuff I'm working on now is more useful to MUGEN creators than to casual visitors. I will try to add some new animations to the mix, but I still haven't finished my automation program so there's no guarantee of that either. Another problem I've discovered with my new set of gifs I'm working on is that they animate WAY TOO QUICK for Internet Explorer on certain frames. Everything that is below 5/100ths gets defaulted to 10/100ths, which screws up the accuracy. Maybe I've mentioned this before?

So don't worry, there is still more to come, this site is always on my mind and is constantly being worked on, even if it may be only behind-the-scenes.

Monday, March 28 2005, 11:00 PM
I'm still working on getting menu sprites and effects sprites out there, but I'm getting overwhelmed by the sheer mass of it all, and trying to match palettes as well. Hopefully I'll get it done some time soon, so that those who still care will have some good sprites to work with.

Thursday, March 17 2005, 10:00 PM
For those that are interested, I have begun naming a lot of the PSP pal files now, and I have uploaded the newest ones to the SPRITES section. I also extracted some palettes from New Generation and 2nd Impact. Some of the colour palettes for the fighters were not used in Third Strike, so it's kind of interesting seeing these different palettes.

Tuesday, March 15 2005, 10:00 PM
The past couple weeks I've been trying unsuccessfully to extract jumping information from the .BIN files. It's pretty frustrating when I'm making no progress, so I decided to leave that for now and just concentrate on getting the sprites out there. So I have uploaded new sets for the 20 fighters, which have some small fixes but notably repeat frames are included now (you notice the most on Urien), and they are now centered on the Y-axis, so if you mirror them that is how they are also mirrored in the game! So I will continue to work on improving palette information and get some much needed cosmetic changes done to the site.

That's all for now!

Wednesday, March 02 2005, 12:10 AM
I have been busy the past couple weeks developing a program to help me automate my animated gif process. It's true that within those 2 weeks I could have just made a lot of gifs manually, but I believe in preparing for the future. What is the future, you ask? A site free of animated gifs, and that is the goal I am striving for. Dont get me wrong, animations will still be here, but not GIF89a animations anymore. It's time to move on and emulated the animations more accurately than never before. Dynamic palette changes, precise timing, sound effects, keyboard input; these are all things I am trying to accomplish. Some of these tasks may sound impossible, but I have already managed to achieve quite a lot by simply hex viewing the player files. For instance, all the animation sequences in the game are within these .BIN files.

So for this week I will probably updated the SPRITES again, cause the ones there aren't centered correctly and also facing the wrong way. Centered meaning on the X-axis, if you flip the picture the character isn't in the relative place they would be when flipped horizontally. I will also duplicate reused sprites that are beside each other, such as for Urien's standing animation (because it's a mirror of Gill's), and remove the icon blocks that are spread randomly throughout. Then I will hopefully post the menu items and effects soon as well, I still have to find a way around some issues. Consider this: Elena's Portrait has 5 palette files applied to it! Q and Oro are the only ones that manage to squeeze within a 64-color palette. So I'm finding out interesting things about this game, and I hope everyone is patient while I delve deeper into the game that is Street Fighter III - Third Strike.

On another interesting note, the player files for Double Impact are also very similarly structured, albeit the animation frame numbers are offset a bit for each player. Also, SHIN AKUMA has a file for 2ndImpact, which I found interesting. So until next time, warrior.

Go to the SPRITES section. ;-)

Next up: animations or menu/effects re-rips. Could be either, who knows?

Thursday, February 10 2005, 1:00 AM
I'm really on a roll here re-ripping all the characters. Check out the SPRITES section every day to see what I have recently ripped (new rips have the 'FINAL' tag on them). The completist in me has taken over so I won't stop until all 20 characters are done. I also improved my palette extractiong program a bit so that it can now generated PAL and ACT files. The problem is, this is an old ACT format and the new Photoshop now actually has the index correctly ordered. The old one had index 0 going up from the buttom instead of starting at the top. So I'm a bit confused why this is, but I'll find out soon enough. Either way, I also uploaded the character ACT palettes, but they are far less organized than the PALs.

Hopefully all this work on palettes will help me out in the long run, I hate to think I'm doing this for nothing. Once I'm done with character ripping I think I'll hold off a bit on that aspect, and go back to just making animations of the moves. Stage object ripping won't be a big problem, it's the actual stage tiles I'm worried about, because I haven't really found them in memory in a way that's suitable for a 'completist' version of a rip yet.

Anyway, as of this post 7 characters are done and I will rip the next ones according to the list in the SPRITES section.

Tuesday, February 08 2005, 11:10 PM
Ok thanks to some people begging me I decided to give the animations a break and concentrate on re-ripping all the characters with properly indexed palettes. I have ripped the palettes out of the game and saved them to JASC PAL files, and have put that file into the SPRITES section, along with a brand new GILL rip. I will give Gill a break and move on to other characters now, hopefully this is the last time I have to change his file. Here's how it goes down: I have named every frame in his file according to what index the game has it in. The missing numbers are repeat frames, so I didn't include them. So whenever you see a gap, it means the last file that came before the gap was an image that was repeated by the game. These are usually the 'head sprites' that are distributed generously within a character's sprite set within the game. Unfortunately I have not named the PAL files accordingly, that is still yet to come. For now you'll have to deal with generically named PAL files, and I will update the file every time I give the PAL files appropriate names. Hopefully all you MUGEN creators are happy about this, otherwise I'd be just doing animations now.

Thursday, February 03 2005, 2:15 AM
The past week I busied myself with learning more about palettes. So to start off, I have completely redone GILL, and you will witness it yourself by downloading the new 5meg file of him. I will continue to do the other characters this way as well, with the same organization. Basically whatever the game assigns a new palette, I do as well. Gill has about 12 different sets of palettes from what I can tell, which includes his Seraphic Wing super art and also his people within his level. The included PAL files are in JASC PAL format, they are what I used to make the palettes. All the colours have been extracted from the actual game files and rescaled to 24-bit (from 15-bit), so they may be off a bit. I'm not sure yet what's the best way to convert the palettes, but I'll keep experimenting until I'm satisfied with it. So please check out Gill's new sprite set and tell me what you think about how I organized it: SPRITES

Wednesday, January 26 2005, 9:30 PM
Someone reminded me that Gill's sprites still need to have the left side done to them, as the colour switches on his body when he turns around. So I did it. The colours may not be 100% accurate to the game, I had some issues with certain frames (those pertaining to the Seraphic Wing move only, for some reason), so I had to add slightly off colours to the palette to achieve the colour switch with my batch program. Bla bla bla, who cares about the specifics, right? Anyway, you'll find the new file in the SPRITES section. Soon I will begin the next wave of updates, so be on a lookout. And thanks to all that have emailed me to help out when there's something not working right. Also sorry to those that asked for palette swaps, that is certainly on the agenda, but please be patient and I'll get around to it soon enough. Cheerio!

Friday, January 21 2005, 12:45 AM
It's the new year, so why not start it off with a bang? Yes, I'm so good with cliches... anyway, the last couple weeks I've been silently adding new stuff to the site. All the characters have a lot of their basic attacks and movements added. This is only my 'first pass' so to speak, next week I will go back an add stuff that I missed. I missed some character on purpose such as Gill and Ibuki, cause they gave me some problems in one way or another that I will not divulge here. Needless to say, they are a pain to do. I ended up not playing Halo2, GTA - San Andreas, or Metroid Prime 2 to the end, and Nintendo DS I haven't even tried at all! What can I say, SFIII is where it's at. I will also try to change the layout of the site, this 'ghetto' look is started to grate on me, as I am usually very picky about asthetics. Have fun browsing all the characters' pages, more will come in the following weeks (hopefully I mean it this time).

Sunday, November 7th 2004, 7:00 PM
Today I worked on the SUV in the first bonus round, 1204 sprites in all! I didn't have too much time to inspect them too closely, but I will later on to make sure there are no misplaced lines or anything. This game has some issues when it is scaled, even on the real console, and these vertical or horizontal lines will just show up sometimes out of the blue. I put the SUV zip file into the Backgrounds area of the site.

Sunday, November 7th 2004, 10:30 AM
Well kids, it's been a while, hasn't it? Nearly 2 months and nothing! So I completely understand that nobody cares about SFIII sprite ripping and you've all moved on, but I felt it was time to do something new. So if anyone is still curious as to how I ripped those sprites, the new TUTORIAL will make everything crystal clear. I'm hoping these techniques can be used for other games as well, not just SF3 - 3S. Be on the lookout for more updates from me within the next couple of weeks. Yes, even though GTA - SA, Halo2, Prince of Persia - WW, Metroid Prime 2, and Nintendo DS are all coming out or have come out within this time, I will still be updating! This site needs a major overhaul anyway, it doesn't look too professional now at all.

Wednesday, September 15th 2004 9:00 PM
Well it finally happened: I got bored with the site, and Third Strike in general. It was bound to happen, and most people shouldn't see it as a surprise. The tutorial will probably not get updated any time soon, but I will let you download my latest ArtMoney table here: CLICK . Most values don't make a lot of sense as far as naming the cells goes, so it's a little confusing. I'm sorry for letting everyone down like this, but I need more than a break from this site, I need a real hiatus. It's time for me to move on to other interests outside of making GIFs all the time. I did make a SPRITES section though, for those of you that want to download entire sprite sets for the characters as they appear in the game. You will find the files very informative in how the game draws the characters sometimes, and educational as well.

So in a nutshell, what does it all mean? It means I will only update this site whenever I feel up to it. I know it looks bad for all the character sections to look so unfinished, and no I don't want anyone to contribute either. I am not going away forever, I just want to actually PLAY THE GAMES instead of hacking into them all the time. My problem was that I didn't do everything in moderation as I should have, and instead went full steam ahead without realizing the eventual consequence: burnout. I am completely burned out from the whole thing.

So please bear with me. Patience is a good thing to have in times like these. In the meantime, you may catch me on the forums at:

www.gamefaqs.com
www.shoryuken.com
mugenguild.cjb.net

Also, be sure to read the new FAQs if you want as well.

So play lots of Street Fighter III, no matter which version, because the animation is simply a work of art (and the actual game is not bad as well! ;-)).

Farewell, I hope to see you all soon when my interest has returned.

-Joram "ZweiFuss" Nowak

Saturday, August 28 2004 11:45 PM
Made a preliminary backgrounds page. I will fix it up some more over the next few days. Please wait for the backgrounds to load, they are quite big.

Saturday, August 28 2004 5:00 PM
I'm back! I needed a much-needed rest after all the work I've done almost non-stop on this site from day 1, so I have no guilt. I promised a lot of things I probably won't be able to keep, and I feel bad about that. Thanks to Richard for fixing up my front page, apparently it's faster now on slower machines. If not, complain to me and I'll complain to him about it! ;-) Anyway, I was working on backgrounds, which I haven't created a section for yet. But if you're resourceful you can find them yourself on the site! Also I'm still waiting for all the 20 characters to get their colours globablized so I can post ZIP FILES of all their frames! So be patient for that, it will come soon enough. Also, the tutorial will be updated as well. The bad news is that I'm moving out of my parent's house and I'm not moving the computer (yet), so updates might not be so frequent anymore (not like they have been in the past week or so either, but still...). So no hurries no worries, that's my motto, see you all on the flip-side.

Wednesday, August 18 2004 12:05 AM
Added Dudley's Super Art 1 to Dudley's Section. I didn't bother to press punch several times, I just left it if you do the motion once.

Tuesday, August 17 2004 9:00 PM
Yay, today the Tea Party released their new CD! I'm so glad, been waiting for a while for this one. I did the three requested Twelve morphs into other chracters, will add the rest later. Not sure if there is a morph into Twelve, gotta check that out. Also, I won't be adding requests to the request list anymore. I will just note them in my personal log. The whole request section will be eliminated soon to be replaced by a FAQs section. It doesn't mean I won't be taking requests, it's just that I don't like the set up of it, that's all. Check Twelve's Section to see the morphs.

Saturday, August 13 2004 8:15 PM
Added Q's SA2 and Ken's thumbs-down intro. See Q's and Ken's Sections to see them.

Saturday, August 13 2004 1:05 AM
Added Chun-li's last super, the Tensei-Ranka. Took a little longer than expected to make, all entirely my fault. See Chun-li's Section to view it.

Friday, August 12 2004 8:40 PM
Replaced JJWE's Chun-li's Houyoku-sen with mine. Same amount of frames (almost - I kept some repeat frames for the movement at the beginning). Check Chun-li's Section to see it.

Thursday, August 12 2004 11:00 PM
Replaced JJWE's Chun-li's Kikou-Shou with my own. This is just the first in a line of gifs I have to replace with my own creations. So thanks to JJWE for letting me have his gif for so long, but now that I can do it myself I might as well have my own on this site. Interestingly enough when I compared the two, his had the same amount of frames yet Chun-li was placed differently than in the game. That's what happens when you lock the x-axis I guess. I try to keep my animations exact to the game rather than locked to an axis, except of course the walking animations. Check Chun-li's Section to see the new one.

Thursday, August 12 2004 10:00 PM
Did Gill's Resurrection and Urien's Aegis Reflector. Go to Gill and Urien's areas to see them.

Thursday, August 12 2004 12:20 AM
A bunch of new requests done: Dudley's jet upper, Oro's crazy smashing throw, Urien's chariot rush and 'restrained punch' win, and Ryu's Shoryuken. I also added Elena's falling down win. Whew that's enough for tonight. See you all tomorrow (or later today, whatever :-P). The new animations are here: Dudley, Oro, Urien, Ryu, Elena.

Wednesday, August 11 2004 9:40 PM
Completed 'everyone's fireballs'. That means just the shotokan fighter's fireballs, though, not Gill/Urien/Oro/Chun-li/Remy. Also I did their animations and fireballs separately, so you'll find the actual fireballs in the 'special' area and their animations on their respective pages. Also, Chun-li's Kikouken is completed as well, but not too sure if the movement is correct. So check a dis out: Ryu, Ken, Sean, Akuma, Chun-li, Special.

Wednesday, August 11 2004 12:30 AM
Completed Twelve's X.F.L.A.T. and Hugo's Gigas Breaker supers. Took a lot of time but it was worth it! Check them out in Twelve's and Hugo's sections. Note: these are multiple screens high, so I recommend selecting the 1x zoom mode unless you want to scroll around a lot.

Monday, August 9 2004 11:00 PM
Sorry everyone I was a bit tired today. But I did get some Makoto animations in, including: SA1 (Seichuusen Godan-zuki), 2 more win poses, and 1 intro pose. Next in line are Twelve's X.F.L.A.T. and Hugo's Gigas Breaker. Those are on the list tomorrow, anyway. And I know the mouth movements on Makoto are off, that will be fixed once I find a good way to copy it off the game. Also in her SA1 I did not include any ground effects such as the dust and clouds. So go to Makoto's Page and see for yourself :-)

Sunday, August 8 2004 11:55 PM
Removed the 'all animations' files for all the fighters that had them. If you want to have all the character's animations centered on their axis email me, otherwise, I will continue to fill requests. Completed are all the chip-damage knockouts, as well as Gill's hooded cult members and his secretary, as well as Q's appearance portrait and Akuma's flaming background after his Raging Demon attack. .So yo diggity check it out. Safe. Respek.

Thursday, August 5 2004 11:00 PM
I will remove the 'all animations' gifs very soon, so grab them while you can. The thing is, they aren't very accurate in some areas and are clipped here and there, they were just there for experimentation purposes. Over the next couple of weeks the site will see some changes, particularly in how I display the animations. I want to move away from animated gifs to javascript/layer animations, which will not only save bandwidth but look better as well. But I will probably still do animated gifs while I work on the new animation technique in the background for quite a bit still, most likely through August. So here is my plan: starting September, new animation technique and new site layout. I still have to get through requests, but for now I've added missing walking animations to every character's page. Also, in the next couple of days I will remove submitted animations and replace them with my own. The reason for this is because I want everyone to be able to take these sprites/gifs and use them without having to ask the original author's permission. I don't want to be a middleman for anything, I want this to be the straight source. So I'm sorry to all those that contributed, you will be remembered always, but in the interest of progress I have to do this. Lastly, update your bookmarks to

http://www.newwavemugen.com/~zweifuss/

This will be the only site I update from now on. I used to update my University of Guelph site along with this one, but it's getting ridiculous now as I ran out of room on that server a couple of weeks ago anyway. So all the folders of the chracters don't exist on that server anymore, only on this one. So go to the main page and hit reload if the character pages aren't working for you.

Tuesday, July 26 2004 1:00 AM
Updated Gill and Alex's sections with their 'complete' sprite sets. Gill needs some work, but Alex only needs some recolouring. Tomorrow I'll pick another random 2 fighters to rip. Incase anyone is wondering this complete set ripping is taking priority now over the requests. Once they are all done the requests will be a cinche to complete, as I have all the clean frames I need. I MAY also intersperse requests among the complete sprite sets, if I feel like it.

Sunday, July 25 2004 12:30 AM
You'll want to check out my updated TUTORIAL to see what I've been up to the last few days. Very interesting to a lot of people I'm sure! Bye for now.

Thursday, July 22 2004 2:30 AM
I got a bit tired of ripping boring animations that anyone can do, so I researched a bit and spoke to some friends, who helped me out with a program called ArtMoney. This program can be used to seek out hex addresses in memory while the game is being played. Now I can move X and Y coordinates of the characters during the game whenever I want, so that enables me to rip animations that usually require a second player to do. Also, using this program I have frozen Gill's colour, so I have added his regular attacks and walking animations to Gill's Section. Other updated pages: Alex, Ibuki, Hugo, Ryu, Chun-li, and Dudley. Check them out to see what's new, I'm too tired now to name all the new animations in there.

Sunday, July 18 2004 6:20 PM
Added the Alex and Hugo special intro to their sections: Hugo / Alex

Sunday, July 18 2004 4:30 PM
Added 23 new animations s to Urien's Section.

Sunday, July 18 2004 1:00 PM
Added some missing Ryu animations to Ryu's Section, including his intro with Ken (also added to Ken's Section).

Sunday, July 18 2004 1:00 AM
Added 25 Ken animations to Ken's Section. I'm glad I'm almost done with the basic attacks of the shotos, I was getting tired of all those repeat animations!

Saturday, July 17 2004 9:00 PM
Added 30 Sean animations to Sean's Section. Bunch of standards as well as his headbutt, which looks cool. Sorry to all that are waiting for requests, but what I want to do is flesh out the characters' sections a bit more before I get to the specific requests. Also, most of them are pretty hard to capture and would take a whole night of work. Especially the ones that involve hitsparks or another opponent, they will be a bit tought to capture so I might need to recruit the help from some hackers to help me with the missing pixels. Just be patient and it will come along. BTW nobody has emailed me to tell me to hurry up or anything, which I appreciate, but I'm just saying in advance! Bye for now.

Saturday, July 17 2004 12:50 AM
Added 25 Ibuki animations to Ibuki's Section. The jumping animations obscure the move-selection panel, you have to return to 1X zoom to pick a new one. This happens with quite a few of the animations, I still have to fix that issue.

Friday, July 16 2004 12:15 AM
Added Chun-li's jumping animations to Chun-li's Section. They animate funny because I could only take certain frames out that repeated.

Thursday, July 15 2004 10:30 PM
Added 17 animations to Necro's Section. Crouch/stand, walks, dashes, regular standing and crouching attackes. His far and close attacks are the same because his close attacks require pressing back and the appropriate button, and I didn't do those animations yet. Enjoy!

Wednesday, July 14 2004 11:30 PM
Added 6 more Akuma animations to Akuma's Section .

Wednesday, July 14 2004 9:30 PM
Added 15 new Alex animations to Alex's Section. This includes jumps, dashes, and a bunch of basic attacks.

Wednesday, July 14 2004 1:30 AM
I was on a roll so I continued with basic captures and added a bunch to Ryu's section (22 to be exact): Ryu's Section.

Tuesday, July 13 2004 10:00 PM
I was bored and tired of doing requests so I did a whole bunch of Akuma's regular attacks and walking and crouching animations: Akuma's Section.

Monday, July 12 2004 8:15 PM
Added Oro's headstomp to Oro's Section and Q's dashes and taunt to Q's Section.

Saturday, July 10 2004 9:20 PM
I'm taking a bit of a break the last few days... I need to do this or else I will burn myself out for sure. New gifs will resume on Monday. ;-)

Thursday, July 8 2004 2:50 PM
Well I finsally finished it. It took a while to make the pages work across IE and Mozilla browsers, sacrificing some speed in return, but overall I'm pretyt happy with the new changes. I hope everyone likes it, from now on there will only be small cosmetic changes, and I will concentrate on making the gifs. Also, the Extras, Thanks, Requests, Tutorial, and What's New pages will also be improved in time, I was just too tired of it all to do it now.

Tuesday, July 6 2004 6:00 PM
The last stages of the character page template is nearing completion. I still have to figure out a way to load the images correctly, as pressing on the links doesn't generate an image unless it's clicked multiple times (until the image is downloaded). So still gotta work through that, but I'm happy with the general layout. Check out the new design if you want, right Here.. Again, feel free to email me what you think.

Monday, July 5 2004 11:45 PM
I'm currently working on a new layout for the characters, and am testing it on Alex as a template. If you wish to see my work in progress, click Here.. So if you like it, hate it, have better ideas, etc, feel free to email me what you think.

Sunday, July 4, 2004 10:40 PM
Added Yun and Yang's special intro to both Yun and Yang's sections.

Sunday, July 4, 2004 4:50 PM
Added the last 3 Ibuki winposes to Ibuki's Section. As an extra note to those smoke-cloud win poses, I took some liberties in the timing of it to how I liked it, so it's not exact to the game. Pretty close, but not exact. Hope nobody minds too much. Also, don't expect too many animations this coming week as I'm doing a major overhaul to the website ;-)

Sunday, July 4, 2004 10:10 AM
Added 2 more Ibuki winposes to Ibuki's Section. The last three I'm working on and will be up today (for sure this time). Also, thanks to a helpful sprite rip from Mateo L., I have now improved the new layout with a Gill icon! So check it out again if you want. It's not like that in the actual game, but it's a nice little extra that rounds out the whole selection screen.

Saturday, July 3, 2004 2:50 PM
Sorry everyone, I got a bit sidetracked during the last couple days with outside engagements, I know I promised the last Ibuki win poses... maybe I should stop making promises I can't keep! The reason for this post is to say that everyone who has emailed me about the new layout idea for my site has given it the thumbs up! Two issues brought forth are a loading delay at the beginning (roughly 450kb needs to be loaded), and that there is no Gill icon. Well since the game has no Gill icon, I would have to construct one myself, stealing his picture maybe from underneath the power bars. Also I realize his colours are BACKWARDS when he's facing that way, that will get fixed for sure. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so that bothers me a bit. So the new layout is a GO for sure, and I have received permission from CLARKH at emugif.emu-zone.org, discovering that he himself didn't even come up with the idea! :-) But I'd like to bring the character pages up to the level of the new main page, so I might not make it the main page just yet. Anyway, here is a little 'teaser' to prove that I'm still working on the 'puff of smoke' Ibuki animations:

Friday, July 2, 2004 5:00 PM
Why haven't I updated in a while? Because I've been working on a new website layout. Check it out at www.uoguelph.ca/~jnowak/images/new.htm and please email me what you think about it, and if it works on your computer, how fast it loads, etc... I need a lot of feedback. BTW most of the source code for it came from some pages at http://emugif.emu-zone.org/, so I owe a great deal to the designers of that site for their ideas. I will only make it the mainpage if they agree to let me use it, because 70% of the code at least is from them. Next up: the last 5 Ibuki win poses, coming later tonight or tomorrow morning! ;-)

Thursday, July 1, 2004 4:00 AM
Added Dudley's shortened stance, walking, all punches and kicks (contribution from Jigsaw) to Dudley's Section.

Thursday, July 1, 2004 3:30 AM

Tuesday, June 29, 2004 11:05 AM
Added the judges from the Judgement scene to a page that's not yet linked on the front page: Specials Later on I will change it so they are holding up blank signs, and then make an animated gif of all the characters on a sign.

Monday, June 28, 2004 10:55 PM
Added Gill's Seraphic Wing to Gill's Section. This one is not complete yet, stilll a few issues to iron out, but it's very watchable, so enjoy! :-)

Sunday, June 27, 2004 1:35 AM
Well after trying for a long time to capture Chun-li's super attacks and always running into problems, I've given up. There were just too many effects in the way that were stopping me, so I caved and asked JJWE aka NeoGouki to use his GIFs. How did he manage to rip them? With a lot of hacking, that's how! And here I am capturing the sprites tediously like a sucker! What can I say, he's got the skills and I don't! As I've said before I will continue to capture sprites the only way I know how until I find a better method. So enjoy these excellent rips by him in Chun-li's Section.

Saturday, June 26, 2004 6:25 PM
Added the rest of Twelve's standing attacks, lots of crouching attacks, jumping, dashing, and getting hit, all from NeoFix, to Twelve's Section. I think it's time to restructure the fighters' pages into different sections, don't you? ;-). I also replaced the submissions area with an ENDINGS area. It's only temporary, I will put respective endings for the players on their own pages eventually.

Saturday, June 26, 2004 1:55 PM
Added Q's walking animations to Q's Section. Yes I know it's too slow but I can't speed up the animation because IE only accepts 6 100ths of a second or highter :-(

Added Urien's walking animations to Urien's Section.

Saturday, June 26, 2004 1:35 AM

Thursday, June 24, 2004 4:00 AM
Well it only took me 6 hours but Akuma's Raging Storm is now completed! No blue shadows, ground shake returned, and at 350 pixels high, you can see the entire purple flames! That's what took me so long, finding screen captures of that. Well now that I'm done this complex one I will get to the other requests. Sorry about that but I just want to do my own project every now and then, and a complete Akuma's Raging Storm was it! go to Akuma's Section
