How about using command = "holdup" && command = "holddown" to trigger an AI var during the intro before the actual fighting begins? Time = 1 of course.
I think most people using non-keyboard controllers wouldn't be able to do this. This way you could manually trigger the AI on the keyboard before the round begins. Not good for the lazy, but this way AI would always trigger for the full duration of the round/match. The only caveat I can think of is that keyboard players may trigger this by accident or maybe some characters may have 'hidden' moves requiring this 'impossible' command. But I think limiting it to the intro would help minimize this possibility. If you miss it, there's always F4. Maybe there's a character out there already using this...haven't seen one though. |

that could be good, but then the ai would have to use those 2 commands during that 1 tick as well. They might not get it very often.

That doesn't seem to be very reliable at all, but then again, I don't know anything of how Mugen spits out directives to the players it controls.

Hmmm...either I'm misunderstanding this or maybe my post was a little unclear. To trigger the AI, the 'player' would have to manually press up and down at the same time for the computer controlled character(s). So if you're playing as player 1 against the computer as player 2, during the intro, you'd press up and down on the keyboard using player 2's controls. If you're watching the computer fight itself, you'd press up and down for both player 1 and player 2 during the intro. In other words, it's a manual AI trigger, not one you wait for the computer to eventually stumble upon. It would be very simple code as well. I've seen manual triggers for characters like ANMC's cvs_iori, but they used the punch/kick buttons to trigger different types of AI during the match. Kinda cool, but it would interfere if you were actually playing the game. I think the method I posted would allow a small window of opportunity to turn AI on before the actual fighting, but not interfere if you actually were fighting and didn't turn it on. It would also allow AI to be turned on from start to finish of a round or match. I personally find it frustrating sometimes waiting for a character to become 'smart' until it's too late for them to have a chance. Now that I think about it, Team play might be a problem, since I don't think there are controls for players 3 & 4. But you could program characters to detect team mode and the commands or AI var of their teammate to auto trigger AI for themselves. I guess you could also use this to enter 'auto-block', 'easy combo' or other trainer/cheat-type modes for yourself if you're actually playing, but trigger the AI for yourself as well. |

There's a character out there that has an AI that triggers if the player does not move for a certain amount of time after the round has started...it seems to work quite well. The player's picture is in my post in the topic: "Hiding Chars in the Select Screen".
